Light Up The Night: Emsi’s Second Annual Christmas Light Competition
Moscow, Idaho
“We hope this contest encourages everyone to forget the heaviness of 2020 and enjoy Christmas even more!” Andrew Crapuchettes, CEO of Emsi, said about the second annual Christmas Decoration Contest.
When asked why Emsi started this annual event, Crapuchettes said, “We love Christmas because 2000 years ago the world was changed by the birth of Jesus. 2020 is a year where we strongly believe more cheer is better than less! So we want to encourage people to lean into Christmas and the joy of the holidays.”
Emsi is giving $10,000 dollars total in cash prizes for the contest. The cash prizes this year are $2000 for first place, $1000 for second place, and $500 for third place in each of the categories.
There are three commercial winners, three residential winners within Moscow, and three residential winners outside of Moscow that can win the cash prizes.
Last year Sisters Cookies, a local commercial cookie company, won first place for business decorating. They received two thousand dollars as a prize.
Sisters Cookies said, “At Christmastime, we like to make it a beautiful, festive, and magical place for our staff and for our customers. We have big decorations, like our 9-foot Christmas tree (decked with cookie cutters), and little decorations, like a figurine of a little girl baking Christmas cookies.”
Sisters Cookies intends to compete this year as well, “EMSI is generously encouraging businesses and homes to up the bar on Christmas decorations to bring cheer to our city. Sisters staff wants to share that cheer through our business as well. This year, they have invited us to participate again, and we are more than happy to join them in this celebration and fun.”
The judges in this year’s competition will be Andrew Crapuchettes, Father Chase Hasenoehrl from St. Augustine’s Catholic center, and Gina Tarusico of the Moscow City Council.
The competition runs from Sunday, December 6 to Sunday, December 13, but applications for the contest end this Friday, December 4.
