Moving to Moscow or new to the area? Below is the Moscow Report Relocation Guide. We highlight exceptionally excellent businesses in various categories, or the best available option from our experience.

This guide is put together by Moscow Report founder Daniel Foucachon based on 15+ years of experience living in the region, along with input from the Moscow Report team.

This list is not a comprehensive. Want to nominate a business? Send us an email. We will do our own research before adding it, so that we can personally recommend each business on this list. The main criteria for this list is a business or service that provides universal interest to someone moving here, and is known for its excellence (or is the best available option). Perfect example: What’s the best internet provider? We’re ordering the categories generally in a “order of need” for a newcomer. First, you’ll need a place to live, and we have fantastic options in real estate!

Kestrel Real Estate
Multi-generation real estate agents best known for an in-depth knowledge of Moscow and the surrounding region. Both new and old families should make sure and get their free publication: The Kestrel Post. Also, check out the fantastic Kestrel Country podcast.

Fantastic at marketing. Really solid, dedicated team of realtors and marketers ready to sell your home or close a purchase.

Banks

Zions Bank
Great all-around bank for both personal and business needs. An exceptionally friendly experience and staff. Expect to be asked how your family is doing when you come in, and they mean it!

Synergy One Lending
Brandon Allen at Synergy One Lending is fantastic as quickly closing home loans. Highly recommended.

ISP (Internet Service Providers)

In town

First Step Internet (in town)
Best ISP for customer service. For in-town, we recommend their Fiber service. Their wireless is not the fastest or most reliable.

Spectrum
Not a great company or customer service, but they offer the fastest speeds on a reliable network. They will often get you in cheap for a year, and then hike the price. Still, often the best option in town.

Rural

First Step Internet (rural)
Best ISP for speed and reliability for rural internet, but that’s still not great at all! They are improving over time.

Starlink from SpaceX
Amazing speeds. Very much in Beta with frequent drops. To be watched closely as it will probably become the best rural internet.

Anderson Family Construction
Excellent, high-quality work from a fantastic team. Most affordable custom home option due to their “design-build” approach.

Carlton Builders

Excellent, high-quality craftsmanship, specializing in high-end remodels. \

Harby + Points (construction design firm)
Architectural design team (commercial and residential). They do beautiful work!

Highlight: Class A Commercial space available downtown (video).

Beautiful working space downtown on third street close to everything. Several options available for renting a desk or booth. High speed internet and shared conference room.
