How’s it going y’all? Aiden Anderson here with the Moscow Minutes. It was standing-room only earlier this week at the Latah County courthouse as families and friends alongside county staff, gathered to watch the newly elected county commissioners, county sheriff, and county prosecutor take the oath of office.
I myself was in the audience, and so we’ve got footage of the swearing-in ceremony itself. The audio is a little rough, but you should be able to enjoy it all the same.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Due to the audio quality, some captions may be inaccurate.
With the ceremonies concluded, the commissioners did actually conduct a little bit of business, including setting a commission chair and sorting through meeting times for the future. Tom Lamar was selected to be commission chair, and as for meeting times, the county will keep people updated via the agendas made available on the county website.
The commissioners also went through a variety of regular action items, including liquor licenses, taxpayer adjustments, and a water rights agreement. This being the first rodeo for Commissioners Stooks and Johnson, Commissioner Lamar and other members of county staff helped walk them through the process, as well as explain the context and history of certain modes of county operation.
A little bit shorter this week, but that’s what we got. To Commissioner Stooks and Commissioner Johnson, congrats on the new role, and we wish you luck in the work you both have ahead of you. And to Sheriff Skiles and Prosecutor Thompson, it’s good to have both of you sticking around. As always, we’ll have the relevant links posted with this video, and if you have any questions, please reach out. I’m Aiden Anderson with the Moscow Minutes. See you next time!
